Autumn is Here!
Golden ochre and warm russet glow in the garden as the sun catches the remaining leaves. The Goldfinches have been a welcome sight, devouring the seeds from the prickly teasels that stand stately amongst the perennials. Spider webs capture the early morning dew, glistening in the warm light. Moments of golden beauty that brighten the darkening days.
Latest Work in Progress
The last few months I’ve been working on a selection of linocuts based on birds in their natural habitat. Throughout the year, birds and other wildlife gather on our apple trees; in late summer they are a particular favourite for the blackbirds, who feast on the apples for weeks. Occasionally a charm of goldfinches will arrive in the garden, making the most of the ripe hawkweed among other seedheads. These are just a few of the inspirations for my work.
In September, I was delighted to exhibit these birds for the first time, alongside other local artists in the BIRDS Exhibition in Cowbridge Old Hall; it was a fantastic exhibition to be a part of. Thank you to everyone who came to see it, I’m so grateful for your supportive comments and generous feedback.
