This series of atmospheric collagraph prints were produced for a commission that I completed in 2022. My client commissioned me to produce a collection of prints based on three white horse chalk figures. This was an exciting project for me to work on; having grown up in Wiltshire, home to many chalk figures, I would always admire their majestic nature and their significance within the landscape. Each of these white horses is so distinct and compelling.
I spent much time researching the white horses before coming to a decision with my client on which ones to depict. It was fascinating learning about the history of each of these figures as well as the formidable effort required to create and preserve them.
This commission required me to produce a number of unique prints to be displayed alongside each other. I used warm, earthy colours and cool, hazy tones to produce prints with a dawn or dusk-like appearance, important in my client’s brief.
